Soaking Rain of the Soul

by tara

in Time in the Word

I awoke today to a darkened room.  I knew it must be getting ready to rain.

We sorely need the rain.  Our grass is brown and the trees are droopy.

Now the rain comes.

Steady.

Persistent.

Soaking.

The grass is eagerly soaking it up and the leaves on the trees are upturned trying to catch every drop.

That is what my soul did this morning as I grabbed some extra stolen moments in the Word.

I have so much to do but my soul was parched and crying out for rain.  And as the rain of His Word fell on my soul, I just wanted more.

The deadlines seemed much less urgent.

The pile of laundry didn’t seem so overwhelming.

The demands of raising a little boy alone didn’t seem like a burden.

My thirst was being quenched.  And I want to catch every last drop.

When your words came, I ate them;
they were my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
O LORD God Almighty.

Those kind of rain storms? They make me want to dance in the puddles! Love this!

This post is beautifully perfect, one of those that redirects our focus and turns our hearts towards Him. Thank you!
