HOTM 10 Days of Spiritual Legacy Day 8 + Giveaway!

in Parenting

Hello and welcome back to our series on Living a Spiritual Legacy while homeschooling!  Please make sure to get the giveaway details at the end of the post!

Today's habit is:  PRIORITIZE!

This may seem like an odd habit to develop, but making a priority list of the specific spiritual things or areas you want to nurture and develop in your children is vital.  As the saying goes, “if we fail to plan, we plan to fail”.  In other words, you have to know your desired destination before you can map out the way to get there.  As homeschoolers I am sure you are familiar with this!

This priority list can include things like values, beliefs, character traits, Biblical principals, ethics, etc.  Be as specific as possible!

Click here for a sample priority list

Even if you are not much of a planner, this priority list will help you focus in on those things that you most want to develop in your children.  You can then pick one or two at a time and plan some specific ways to interact with your children on that topic or area.  You can find more ideas for activities and focused interaction through our Mommy Mission Membership!

Next, make sure that you keep copies of your priority list in highly visible areas such as your bedside table, the refrigerator door or even the bathroom mirror.  A visual reminder of your goals and desired outcomes will help you stay focused when life gets crazy and chaotic!

Please

come back tomorrow as we talk about another VITAL area of assessment!

I love your priority list.

I would love to have Foundations 1 Curriculum in my home. I have wanted to show my children the best way to learn and study God’s word for a while now but have just never had the proper tools (besides the Bible of course) to do it well. We could absolutely benefit from Foundations 1 Curriculum!!

Sherri February 18, 2011 at 7:22 am

I would love to have Foundations One. It would be great to have the right tools to show my 10 yo & 6 yo how to study the Bible – and for all of us to do it together! It makes me excited to think about it. And since “money is tight” is such a major understatement, we don’t have the money to buy anything. I wrote my own curric. this year!

Do I tell you what I’ve subscribed to? In my Google reader I have Anne’s blog (I already was subscribed to it), Your blog and I just downloaded your “Mom on a Mission” e-book (I look forward to sharing it with my old MOPS group). Thanks for giving more entries to something other than Facebook and Twitter! I don’t use either and you made me feel included, not left out!

Thanks for your wonderful dedication to Moms!
Blessings,
Sherri

As we transition from Bible story books to the Bible itself with our two children, Anne’s book would be a great resource! Thanks.

I often struggle with consistency in this area and rather than no plan in particular a curriculum sounds like a way to make me more consistent. I have looked at others but they often fall short of the mark but I think yours hits it spot on. I would love to win this!!

I would love to have Anne’s Foundations 1 Curriculum to share with my children. I’ve been looking for a way to bring God’s word to them at their individual levels and this sounds great! I love that there’s coloring sheets to go along with it for the younger ones. Can’t wait to get started!

Hi! I would LOVE to have Anne’s Foundations I Bible curriculum in its entirety! I homeschool 2 kids, both 6th grade (1 is my son and the other is a girl, his best friend who is also 12)……The girl I babysit, April, lost her Daddy tragically just over 2 years ago, and her and her family’s life have changed so drastically, as her Dad was the “rock” in the Word of God…her mom now has to run his business, so it’s a privilege for me to teach April and my son the Word of God, and the importance of learning to apply the Word of God to our lives….we have been using the 3 month sample of this curriculum and we just LOVE it! It is the most IMPORTANT thing I can do…..to teach the Word of God to these precious children! LOVE LOVE LOVE this curriculum! We especially get a “bang” out of the bible drills! Way too fun! This curriculum is a HUGE blessing! Thank you and God Bless You for your service unto HIM! :)

I’d love to win simply because this looks like a great resource. I’ve tried a few different Bible curriculum options, but it’s hard to settle on one that works for the long haul. Thanks for the giveaway!

I would love to have the Bible study curriculum. I don’t currently have any curriculum to teach my kids the Bible, and could really benefit from that!!

Rhoda February 18, 2011 at 12:41 pm

Thank you for this give away. I’m already on Anne’s email list so does that count? Like Sherri, I don’t twitter or face book so THANK YOU for the other options that you have (which I have done). Because of Anne, I found your site and look forward to gleaning from your site. As for the Foundations Curriculum, everything I’ve read from Anne’s site thus far has been excellent. I’ve looked over her curriculum and really like it. But I already had what we were doing for this year, so have put off getting it. Thank you for the possibilty of winning it though.

Wow! I would love to win this resource because I have failed to make Bible study a part of our day, lacking a resource I can use with the entire family that includes memory work, Bible study skills, life application, and chronological study all in one product. I really need help in discipling my children. Thank you for this opportunity!

Shannon February 18, 2011 at 6:52 pm

there are soo many reasons that we would love the bible resource… and to have great tools to add to BIBLE study with my kids would be a great benifit.. thanks for the oppertunity and sharing!
